Families
Helping Families is a non-profit organization started in 1996 to help
senior citizens, low-income and disabled families. We serve rural
Lincoln, Oklahoma, Payne, Pottawatomie, Logan & Seminole Counties and
have a total of over fifteen hundred family members that we help in
their time of need and hunger.
It is our goal, as well as commitment, to
help stop the suffering of those families that have fallen upon hard
times. There are many families in our area that are on a set
income which allows them only a few dollars above their needs and at
times, not even a few dollars.
We started with monies from our own pockets
and donations from certain organizations to help a few needy people from
our church members and their families. within the year we had
branched out to an overwhelming amount of needy families and it takes
many hours of work and dedication from my husband, Alvin, and myself
along with a few volunteers (loaders, sackers and general help) to get
the job done. Any type of donation is greatly appreciated and very
much needed to help us continue to serve the needy.
Whether it is a dented can of food, a shirt,
jacket or perhaps a few dollars, even a few hours of volunteer service,
there are people out there that it means the world to. As stated
previously, we are a non-profit organization and rely solely on
donations and volunteers to help us in our never ending battle against
hunger and suffering. All donations are tax deductible and the
cause is a sincere and dedicated one.
